Community Role
The Wollondilly Health Alliance is a joint initiative between Wollondilly Shire Council and South Western Sydney Local Health District. It was created to respond to the unique health challenges of a geographically large and semi‑rural community. The Alliance works to improve access to healthcare, strengthen prevention and early‑intervention programs, and coordinate services across the region. Its focus areas include mental health, chronic disease prevention, healthy ageing, community wellbeing, and improving local access to health information and support.
Connection to Big Yellow Umbrella
Big Yellow Umbrella delivers community programs across the Macarthur region, including Wollondilly, supporting families, young people, and vulnerable residents. This aligns closely with the Alliance’s goal of improving local wellbeing through community‑based initiatives. BYU’s work in social connection, family support, and community development complements the Alliance’s health‑focused strategies, creating natural opportunities for collaboration on prevention programs, community education, and initiatives that reduce isolation and improve access to support.
Shared Impact
The relationship between the Wollondilly Health Alliance and Big Yellow Umbrella strengthens the overall support network available to residents. The Alliance provides strategic direction, health expertise, and coordinated initiatives, while BYU delivers on‑the‑ground programs that engage residents directly. Together, they help create a healthier, more connected, and more resilient Wollondilly community.
