What is Hamper House?
Hamper House is Big Yellow Umbrella’s community food‑relief program, providing essential pantry items to local individuals and families experiencing financial stress. As the cost of living continues to rise, more people across the Macarthur region are turning to us for support, and your donations help ensure no one in our community goes without a basic meal.
Every hamper we distribute is filled with practical, nutritious items that can be used to prepare simple meals at home. Your contribution directly supports people facing hardship and helps strengthen food security across Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly.
What to Donate
We gratefully accept non‑perishable pantry items with a minimum six‑month shelf life. These items are used to create take‑home hampers for families and individuals in need.
Most‑needed items include:
- Rice, pasta, noodles
- Meal kits (tacos, curries, Italian, etc.)
- Sauces (tomato, BBQ, chilli, oyster, soy, stir‑fry)
- Pasta sauces
- Tinned food (baked beans, spaghetti, tuna, salmon, tomatoes, soups — ring‑pull cans preferred)
- Cereals
- Desserts and custards
- Tinned fruit
- Condensed milk
- Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, Milo
- Long‑life (UHT) milk
- Sugar
- Salt, pepper, dried herbs and spices
- Cooking oils
These staples help families prepare meals that are filling, familiar, and easy to stretch across the week.
Where to Donate
Donations can be delivered to the Big Yellow Umbrella office in Narellan, Monday to Friday during business hours. During seasonal appeals, additional collection points may also be available through community partners such as Wests Group Macarthur.
