Supporting DV Safe Phone

Big Yellow Umbrella is proud to support DV Safe Phone, a national initiative that collects, repairs and redistributes mobile phones to people experiencing domestic and family violence. A working phone can be a lifeline — providing a safe way to call for help, stay connected to support services, and access emergency assistance when it’s needed most.

By donating your old mobile phone or contributing financially, you’re helping someone in crisis regain safety, independence and hope.

Why Your Phone Donation Matters

For many people escaping violence, a mobile phone is one of the first things taken, broken or monitored. Without safe communication, it becomes harder to:

  • call emergency services
  • contact friends or family
  • reach support organisations
  • access transport, accommodation or crisis help

DV Safe Phone ensures survivors receive a free, safe, refurbished mobile phone they can use without fear of being tracked or controlled.

Your unused phone — even an older model — can make a real difference in someone’s life.

What You Can Donate

DV Safe Phone accepts:

  • Working or repairable mobile phones
  • Smartphones of any brand
  • Chargers and accessories (optional but helpful)

Phones are securely wiped, repaired if needed, and prepared for safe use before being distributed through frontline domestic violence services.

If your phone is damaged, don’t worry — many can still be repaired and used.

How to Donate

You can drop off your old mobile phone at the Big Yellow Umbrella office in Narellan during business hours.
We’ll ensure it is safely passed on to DV Safe Phone for processing.

If you prefer to support the program financially, DV Safe Phone also accepts donations to help cover repair costs, SIM cards and distribution.

The Impact of Your Support

Every phone donated helps someone:

  • stay connected to emergency services
  • access support networks
  • rebuild independence
  • feel safer during an incredibly vulnerable time

It’s a simple act with powerful impact.

Thank You for Supporting DV Safe Phone

Your generosity helps create safer pathways for people experiencing domestic and family violence. Together, we can ensure more survivors have access to the essential tools they need to stay safe and supported.

Such a wonderful community program! My little one loved the Baby La La program and it was a great opportunity to meet other mums. Dani, the program leader brought great energy to the class and the content was always fantastic.

Baby La La is amazing! A fun, new theme every week, a new song sheet to take home and add to the repertoire, and most importantly excellent bonding time with bub. Music, movement and reading - my daughter and I loved it. Thank you Big Yellow Umbrella - we can’t wait for the next one!
