Community Role

OzHarvest rescues fresh, nutritious food from supermarkets, wholesalers, producers, and hospitality venues, redirecting it to organisations that support vulnerable community members. Operating nationally, OzHarvest plays a major role in reducing food waste, easing food insecurity, and promoting sustainability. The organisation also delivers education programs focused on nutrition, food waste reduction, and community wellbeing.

Connection to Big Yellow Umbrella

Big Yellow Umbrella provides support to families, young people, and individuals across the Macarthur region, many of whom benefit from improved access to healthy food. OzHarvest’s rescued food supply directly supports BYU’s community pantry and emergency relief programs, enabling BYU to offer fresh produce and essential items to residents facing financial hardship or crisis. This partnership strengthens BYU’s ability to respond quickly and compassionately to local needs.
